Without purpose, an understanding of our own personal mental health needs, respect for our emotions and physical well-being, we cannot begin comprehending self-care.
To care for ourselves, the four elements need to align. There's no quick way around it I'm afraid. Dancing with our demons and finding a rhythm is the first step.
Treat your mental health the same way you would treat a physical problem- bruised knee? Bruised heart? Still hurts doesn't it? Just because you can't show your friends the scars doesn't mean its not there or that you don't keep picking the scab. It's time to heal all the wounds.
